Gray - The Blog

The Blog = Pointless Prose Presented Posthaste : COMMENTS = LOVE

1.31.2002
Added a link to the SymetriATLCam on the nav to the left there. Click it sometime and see what I'm doing. I will warn that the fluorescents make me look even pastier than usual. Charming, no?

My transmission is shot. The SuperBonneville is going down hard and fast. Anyone have a used, low-mileage transaxle for a '92 Pontiac they wanna lend me? There's a giant cookie in the deal for ya if you do. Just email me.

Well, the frames are still here, but at least I made it smaller and harder to read! If this sucks for anyone, please let me know.

1.30.2002
Back from the Dalton trip relatively safe and sound, though this sore throat stuff surely does suck, and the Bonneville is in the shop for the night. I got lost in Marietta this morning. No, not lost... I just wasn't in the right place. I knew where I was. I just missed the turn for the Krispy Kreme... and I will confidently blame that on some of the worst fog I've ever driven in. That's the ticket...the FOG. Damned fog. Don't you MESS with me when I'm trying to get my donut on.

I hope you're all ready to buy your tickets for Death To Smoochy as soon as they are available.

Do the frames make this thing load slowly (or not at all) for any of you? I'm gonna try to eliminate them tonight while I watch my 2nd Chinese movie of the week. Comentario, por favor.

1.29.2002
Must remember not to prop a foot up on the desk when the 60-gig drive is still sitting out exposed (and running) on said desk. Not that I did it. I just want to remember not to. Because I ALMOST did... but I didn't. So it's ok.

Parsident Bush spoke earlier. He is all about the guns, isn't he? Not a bad thing in this day and time. They're obviously necessary in many situations, and sometimes in very large quantities or caliburs. Hearing him say we were getting bigger guns in about 4 different ways just made me think about how, at any other time before 9-11, the main concern would have been something like education. Something important, yet non-threatening. That'd be nice. At least he did address other issues. 'Roughly half the speech' related to the war on terrorism, said one of the talking heads. I'm rambling. He still comes off as dumb, but he's strong, and he has the nation behind him. That's what's really important this year of exploding shoes and terrorist holdouts.

Best of luck to our President. Now, what can he do about this half-a-sore-throat I've got?

Early morning trip for me tomorrow. Watch my empty chair for me, okay?

1.28.2002
I sure do want to see Slackers. Please let it not suck.

now playing: Dr. Octagon - 3000 (instrumental)

Yessss, my pretty.... my precioussss....

Green jelly beans still rule. How could I have strayed from you for so long, O sweet treat of my childhood?

VERY IMPORTANT: When visiting Cici's Pizza, and planning to enjoy some of their tasty Bavarian cream dessert stuff, do NOT grab a piece right off of a fresh pan and eat it immediately. Apparently, the bastiches count on the stuff sitting under the heat lamps for a few minutes. The piece I got didn't have the benefit of this final incubation period, and I ended up with a mouthful of cool pudding. *shudder* Not exactly what my tastebuds were anticipating. Patience, grasshoppers...

Well La-ti-da.... I did most of the things on my list. Didn't get a haircut or go work out, but, I guess that just means that I'm not quite superhuman. At least I now have a (hopefully) more stable OS (and one that doesn't appear to be constructed of Gummi).

You all own a copy of Being John Malkovich on DVD, right? Good...good... then we won't have to ridicule anyone. One of my favorite movies of recent years... just one of the many amazing flicks that 1999 produced. Check it out immediately if you have not yet seen it. Of course, if you don't like cool things, and you think that Temptation Island 2 is the best TV show ever created, you can pretty much disregard everything I recommend. You are Bizarro Gray.

This entry has been brought to you from the 7 1/2th floor of the Mertin-Flemmer Building.

1.27.2002
Up and running on the Win2K tip. BAM.

Progress? Uh... I sure watched the hell out of that Chinese movie last night. How's that for progress? And I successfully copied the games. As for anything else... let me get back to you on that one.

1.26.2002
must achieve things this weekend:
> reformat this machine to 2000
> make things work in 2000
> copy some games
> watch Chinese movies
> clean up this craphole of an office
> box up stuff that is taking over the 2nd floor
> and a partridge in a pear tree

1.25.2002
Good griefus, it's so much nicer when my commute is only a half hour. Thank you, O Mercury, god of winged Nikes and smooth traffic flows! Why can't people drive like that every day? In a perfect world...

Birthday: successful! Great food for breakfast lunch and dinner, a shiny new DVD of one of my favorite movies ever, and a caramel cake and some FREE CANDY to boot! Not a bad day at all.

1.24.2002
Of course, I have to give this one a link. Pimps At Sea. From the folks who brought you HALO.... and that damn Marathon game that all the Mac users keep talking about. (it was HOW MANY years ago? Get over it...get Unreal Tournament or something.)

FREE CANDY will help to get me through the day! Thanks to Plink, Jen and Shelby, if they ever read this.

I seem to have turned 27 an hour ago. (or in 9 hours, if you want to get specific)

1.23.2002
Mmmm..... afternoon meetings. Preceeded by morning meetings. La vita e bella, no?

I had a good time in Dallas. Saw lots of old friends...missed a couple of others. Bought a few things, saw a movie, played some SSX Tricky (I suck at it). I was lucky enough to be asked to remove my shoes at security in the D/FW airport. I'll post up a picture of that when I overcome this powerful laziness/sleepiness. Burger Street is still the best fast food burger anywhere. Mountain Dew Slurpees rule.

This has been your stream-of-consciousness travel update.

1.21.2002
Alive and well in the DFW. Howdy to Neil, KJ, Mrs. Bell, Mark and any of the other folks who might be reading this for the first time. I'll now return control of the computer to its owner. Over and out, and happy trails to all.

1.19.2002
In just a handful of hours, I'll be braving the (hopefully short) lines at Hartsfield and flying to Dallas for the weekend. Wish me luck. See ya on Tulsa Time.

1.18.2002
The "4.5 hour cut" Fellowship of the Ring DVD rumor gains momentum [ link ] ... I'm betting it's accurate. I don't know why the author of this story doesn't know that the disc is coming out in August, though. I believe that part is definite.

1.17.2002
Well, I guess it's time. The X-Files ends in May. I won't have to tape anything while I'm watching Alias next season.

I have almost certainly triumphed over the need to sleep through this afternoon, and I think I've even learned some more about ASP/VBScript while I was at it. Any suggestions for a cool project for me to attempt?

I am DARTH VADER, from the planet VULCAN! Awwyeah... Back To The Future on DVD later this year. FINALLY.

Cool. Thanks to some nice Brazilians, we have comments again. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer before it dies due to user overload. It is admittedly a bit slow, but give 'em a break... it's gotta go all the way to Brazil and back. Whatever the case.. it's free, and it's not like I'm usually deluged by comments, anyway. *challenge* So yeah... try it out. Give it a few seconds to load, and enjoy.

1.16.2002
best. pong. ever.

Pushing will protect you from the terrible secret of space.

1.15.2002
Heh. Step off, Porkins!

Just in case you have trouble visualizing these things, I present to you...
The Man (in convenient color org chart form).

I like reading stuff like this, as unsetting as it may be to see the concentrations of power in the hands of people who couldn't do their own grocery shopping if their ample left butt-cheek depended on it. I hope that you all acknowledge that the whole world will be run by about 6 old (unfairly, probably all white) guys in a few years. For the time being, it looks like it's closer to a dozen. Whatever the case... way too much money in the hands of a very few. Give me a million. Just a million. I'll save it. I'll only buy ONE largest TV in the free world. C'mon. You can spare it. Are you listening, Ted? I'll drive down to CNN Center anytime you give the word. Just have that check ready. Thanks.

Seriously, though, if I were the richest guy in the world, I think I'd build a bunch of Sonics for all the starving kids overseas or something. They need Root Beer Flurries, too, right?

END OF LINE....for now.

(click it if you like cool stuff and/or TRON)

1.14.2002
Too cheap to buy the Muppets? How about some bootleg toys?

I don't need another bunch of stuff to want. Muppets rule. I'll buy Gonzo.

You know that movie Village of the Giants with Opie and a giant Beau Bridges? Did you ever wonder what it would sound like if one of those giant teenagers pressed their giant buttocks against your window and cut one? NOW WE KNOW.

Some kind of roof work going on, and that is my closest approximation...except that it's not just happening once, but CONSTANTLY. Save us.

Productivity...dwindling...

Mmmmbuddy, Bajaritos is still good. I reiterate...get the Philly Cheesesteak Burrito. You are safe with this one. Do not stray. Do not waver. Well, okay... maybe you can waver to the Chicken Fajita Burrito, but that's ALL. Waver between these two pillars of tastiness, and you'll be fine. Go beyond these, and I just can't be responsible.

1.13.2002
Conan got married! Cheers to the funny bigheaded man.

What do you think about this list of the top 100 video games of all time, as compiled by EGM? I think it's a pretty good list. I am a bit disappointed that I've only played 43/100, but I never did have a SNES or a Genesis, so I really missed out on a lot of video goodness in the early '90s.

If they'd just port Super Metroid to the GBA, I could tackle the supposed #1 game of all time...something I've wanted to do for quite a while.

In other news, I'm so full of chicken and white chocolate chip cookies and CODE RED, I think I'm gonna pop. How's YOUR Sunday going?

"The Spiders" -- fiction. compelling. read it. Stick with it through part 2, at least.

PITFALL! The 20th Anniversary Online version. Fun.

1.12.2002
Do YOU know all that you should about the Euro? Perhaps CAPTAIN EURO can help.

Huh. What do y'all think of this? [ link ]
Dang, Dvorak, let us live the dream for a little bit longer!

1.11.2002
Oh yeah... they were playing the Dilated Peoples on the monitors in Target. They're not my favorite, but I enjoy some of their stuff. I bought their new album last week because it was a mere $6.99 at Best Buy. I'll support people for that price. Their track with Blackalicious is H.O.T. hot stuff.

Anyway...it was cooler than hearing Michelle Branch again or something.

This is most unnatural. I don't have to worry about wanting to buy one... the duck no likey me.

Harvey the mouse must die.

Sleep makes it all better. Got my new Simpsons figures. Officer Marge even comes with counterfeit jeans! Pure toymaking genius!

Feels like a comfortable day, even though we may have to head out to KC for an afternoon meeting. Surely that will sap a bit of the fun from the day, but we can handle it. We've got enough fun for TWO teams. Go MOJO!

What should I do this weekend? (aside from paying bills, upgrading this page a bit and winning Metal Gear Solid)

1.9.2002
hate. traffic. so. much.

note to all drivers: DO NOT BRAKE JUST TO RUBBERNECK. It's just a police car and another vehicle sitting on the side of the road. You've seen hundreds, and you'll see hundreds more. Eyes forward, foot on the gas... DRIVE ON BY, damn you!

1.8.2002
Yow. Cici's Pizza... moderately tasty, and oh-so-cheap. Why must you torment me with a stomachache afterwards?'

Used CD stores...what a blessing they are. The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack and Alice In Chains - Music Bank/The Videos are now mine, ALL MINE! Muahahaha!

...and now, back to work.

1.7.2002
A link to make you think.

My dad drank a lot of Diet Coke.

Keep track of Jack. Click for episode guide.

1.6.2002
411 by request.

...and Jeebus, Brotherhood of the Wolf looks amazing.

Ninjas = REAL ULTIMATE POWER! This is funny. Almost as good as the Master Ninja Theme Song.

1.5.2002
What better way to wrap up the holidays than by polishing off my box of Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes? But Gray, you may say...that doesn't sound very smart or healthy. Well screw that...they's tasty!

now playing :: Lamb - Feela

Wow...I had forgotten about InPassing. This is a highly entertaining site. I should start taking more detailed notes of this kind of thing, myself. I had a doozy from Criminal Records a few weeks ago, but lack of sleep and 3 hours of surf rock wiped the memory from my brain. Whatever the case, go check out this site. Funny.

Funny French/American lady. Go read.

A somewhat belated Christmas Link. An Unfortunate Christmas Card.

1.4.2002
December archive in the hizouse. New stuff may be created tonight. Or I may sit on my buttocks and play video games. Whatever works.

They should issue copies of DJ Shadow CDs to everyone who passes some sort of Cool Test. Everyone should know about this stuff.

...also, we should firebomb the factory that makes Ja Rule CDs.

1.3.2002
A man just went by on the street out front on cross-country skis... now THAT's something you don't see everyday.

1.2.2002
It's SNOWING. And I have to work. BLAST!

..er... I mean...I _GET_ to work!

1.1.2002
One-liners:

The Royal Tenenbaums :: The same type of brilliant-throughout lunacy as Rushmore. Just what I expected, basically, on a larger scale this time. More characters = more opportunities for hilarious quirkiness.

Beauty & The Beast IMAX :: Still a very good movie...now three times taller (and probably cropped a bit on the sides). The ballroom scene was just spectacular.
